MY BIRTHDAY

Part I

I was born on the________ (число) of ____________ (месяц) _____________ (год) in ____________________ (место рождения). I am ______ years old now. Soon I will be ______. Every year on this day my parents give me birthday presents. They usually wake me up in the morning, kiss me and then wish me many happy returns of the day. I like the presents my parents give me. My favourite presents are _____________________________________________ (toys, books, computer games and sweets.) I thank them and kiss them, too. I have relatives who do not live in Moscow. They cannot come to my birthday party but they usually send me telegrams or postcards. They wish me a Happy Birthday and I am always pleased to get their message.

Part II

In the afternoon we usually have a birthday party. I invite my friends and they come and bring me presents. Sometimes we hold my birthday parties at McDonald’s or in some children’s club. There is often a special programme for children with games and competitions. Those who win get presents.

At home Mother usually cooks a lot of tasty things for my birthday party. Of course she makes a big birthday cake with candles on it. All my guests say together “Happy birthday!” and I blow out the candles. We have a lot of fun on this day. We play different games, dance and sing songs.

In the evening my Granny and my Grandpa come. They bring presents not only for me but for my mother, too, because it is her great day even more than mine. They usually bring a big bunch of flowers. We are all very happy on this day.

wish me many happy returns of the day поздравляют меня с днём рожденья

Sample Dictation

Ann was still in bed, when her parents came into her room. It was Ann’s birthday. She was eight. Her parents said: “Happy Birthday!” and gave Ann her presents. Ann was happy to get funny toys, interesting books, and a box of sweets. They also gave her a telegram from Ann’s grandparents, who did not live with Ann.
In the afternoon Ann had a birthday party. Her friends brought Ann many different presents. Ann liked all of them very much. Best of all she liked a nice, big, beautiful doll.
At three o’clock the children sat down at the holiday table. They ate a big birthday cake, fruit, ice-cream, and many other tasty things. They drank tea, orange and apple juice. Then they sang songs, played games and had a very good time. On that day all the children were happy.
