EXERCISE 1: Translate the affirmative and negative sentences by using appropriate verb tenses.

1. Каждое утро солнце светит в окно моей спальни и будит меня.
2. Обычно Сэм сидит во время урока в первом ряду, но сегодня он сидит в последнем ряду.
3. Он уже разговаривал с юристом по телефону.
4. Лина сказала, что ждала тебя с утра.
5. Мы занимаемся английским два месяца.
6. Мы закончим нашу работу к 2 часам дня.
7. Когда она пришла, Петр смотрел телевизор.
8. Он сказал, что сделал всю работу.
9. Он будет работать два часа к тому времени, как мы придём ему помогать.

EXERCISE 2: Translate the interrogative sentences by using appropriate verb tenses.

1. Какую страну вы посетили прошлым летом?

EXERCISE 3: Translate the sentences by using prepositions at the end of the questions.

EXERCISE 4: Translate the sentences paying attention to included questions.

EXERCISE 5: Translate the text by using the appropriate verb tenses.

Дорогая Аня!
Я получила твоё письмо около двух недель назад и с тех пор пыталась найти время ответить тебе. Последнее время я была очень занята. За последние две недели у меня было четыре зачёта и (у меня) ещё один на следующей неделе.
Кроме того, подруга гостит у меня с прошлой среды. Она хотела посмотреть город, поэтому мы потратили много времени на посещение некоторых интересных мест здесь. Мы были в зоопарке, музее искусств и в ботаническом саду.
Сейчас 3 часа ночи, и я сижу за своим письменным столом. Я сижу здесь пять часов и занимаюсь. Самолёт моей подруги улетает в 6.05, поэтому я решила не идти спать. Поэтому я пишу тебе так рано (в такой ранний час). Я засыпаю, но я вздремну, после того как вернусь из аэропорта.
Как поживаешь? Как идут твои занятия? Пожалуйста, пиши быстрее.

EXERCISE 5

Dear Ann,
I received your letter about two weeks ago and I have been trying to find time to write back ever since/so far/since then. I have been very busy lately. In the last/past two weeks I have had four tests, and I have another one (one more) next week.
In addition/Moreover/Besides my friend has been staying with me since last Wednesday. She wanted to see the city, so we have spent/have been spending a lot of time visiting some of the interesting places here. We have been to the zoo, the art museum, and the botanical garden.
Right now it is 3 a.m. and I am sitting at my desk. I have been sitting here (for) five hours doing my studying. My friend’s plane leaves/is going to leave/will leave/is leaving at 6:05, so I have decided (decided) not to go to bed. That’s why I am writing to you so early/at such an early hour. I am getting sleepy, but I will take/am going to take a nap after I come/get back from the airport.
