Having a Closer Look at British Sights

План-конспект открытого урока английского языка в 9 классе (УМК В.П. Кузовлев Английский язык-9)

Цели:

Развивающий аспект – развитие самостоятельности, креативности, воображения, способности осуществлять продуктивные речевые действия.

Учебный аспект – совершенствование навыков монологической и диалогической речи, а также навыков чтения по теме “Достопримечательности Великобритании”.

Воспитательный аспект – формирование потребности и способности понимать чужую точку зрения, выражать своё мнение, воспитание уважение к культурным ценностям страны изучаемого языка.

Место уроков в цикле – урок продолжает тему “Британия в мире”.

Аспекты языка: лексика – названия достопримечательностей Британии.

Грамматика: сослагательное наклонение, придаточные предложения условия.

Виды речевой деятельности: чтение, говорение, письмо.

Режим работы: фронтальный, в парах, групповой, в парах сменного состава.

ХОД УРОКА

1. Организационный момент

Teacher: Good morning! Can you guess what we are going to speak about today?

2. Фонетическая зарядка

Teacher: Ok, look at the words, read them. Big Ben, booms, Buckingham Palace, Beautifully, behind. What sound is often repeated?

Pupil 1: The sound [b].

Teacher: Will you create your own tongue twister? Fine, it sounds interesting. Have you got any ideas about the theme of our lesson?

Pupil 2: Beautiful Big Ben booms behind Buckingham Palace.

Pupil 3: Big Ben booms beautifully behind Buckingham Palace.

Teacher: Yes, you are right. We’ll get to know new facts about some sights of Great Britain.

3. Опрос учащихся. Приём припоминания

Teacher: Do you remember any?

Pupil 4: The Tower of London.

Pupil 5: Edinburgh Castle.

Pupil 6: Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Pupil 7: A historical town Stratford upon Avon, where William Shakespeare was born.

Teacher: Thank you for your answers, you know a lot, but now it is time to learn more about British sights.

4. Работа с текстом

а) предтекстовой этап: способ семантизации лексики – дефиниция.

Teacher: Open your textbooks to page 165, ex 11. Find the title of the text, will you? What is the text about?

Pupil 1: It tells about interesting places that foreign tourists can visit.

Teacher: Of course, there are some new words. Try to understand their meaning: “a castle” means a large ancient building. Kings, queens and knights lived there; “a site” means a place of interest; “wealth” is richness, a lot of; “annual” is something which takes place every year. Is it clear? All right then.

b) текстовой этап: поисковое чтение

Teacher: Read the text on your own and answer the question: What attracts tourists to Britain?

c) послетекстовой этап: контроль понимания прочитанного

Teacher: Well, for a detailed understanding finish my sentences, using the information from the text. If you are interested in history…

Pupil 1: You can visit the Jorvic Viking Center.

Teacher: If you are fond of sports…

Pupil 2: You can watch the annual Oxford v. Cambridge Boat Race.

Teacher: If you are a nature lover…

Pupil 3: You can travel to Scotland and the Lake District.

Teacher: If you are crazy about taking pictures…

Pupil 4: You can learn the history of photography in the National Museum in Bradford.

Teacher: If you admire music…

Pupil 5: You can listen to numerous concerts and operas in London.

Teacher: If you have a sweet tooth…

Pupil 6: You can taste famous chocolate in “Cadbury World”.

Teacher: If you enjoy travelling by ship…

Pupil 7: You can visit the Royal Marine Museum at Portsmouth.

Teacher: If you prefer trains…

Pupil 8: You can come to the National Railway Museum in York.

5. Ролевая игра “В туристическом агентстве”

Приём “Four Corner Activity”

Четырём ученикам-агентам предлагаются 4 вывески с названиями агентств (ученики могут сделать их самостоятельно заранее). Они располагаются в 4 углах квадрата и “открывают” свои агентства. Начинаются диалоги. “Туристы” посещают все 4 агентства и делают свой выбор.

Teacher: If you were in Great Britain now, what site would you like to visit and why?

You will make your choice after a while. Imagine we have 4 tourist agencies here. They can offer a lot to see. You have some money and 3 days to spend in Britain. Find a tour to your liking. Who wants to be a tourist? Who wants to be a travel agent?

b) oпоры для диалогов

Teacher: Some useful phrases for tourists:

– Well, you see…fond of…

– I am interested in…

– Keen on…

– Can you give me a piece of advice?

– What can you advise me to visit?

For agents:

– If you are…, you can ..., because it is…

– You will enjoy…

– If I were you, I would …

c) установка на задание

Teacher: Agents, your task is to provide the necessary information about sites you can offer to visit.

Tourists, you can visit all the agencies and choose your own sightseeing tour. Make some notes not to forget your ideas.

Pupil 1: Hello! Can I help you?

Pupil 2: Yes, please. You see, I am interested in the history of your country. What historical places can you advise me to visit?

Pupil 1: If you are a history lover you can visit Oxford and Cambridge. You will enjoy these ancient towns. The tour is not very expensive.

Pupil 2: Oh, thank you so much!

Pupil 1: You are welcome.

d) контроль речевой деятельности учеников

Teacher: Questions for the tourists:

What sight have you chosen?

Was it difficult to choose?

What about the agents? Were they helpful?

Pupil 3: I want to visit London, the capital of classical music. I am captivated by music. It was difficult to choose. My agent was very helpful, so I could make my choice.

Teacher: Questions for the agents:

What sight was the most popular?

What are your impressions of Russian tourists?

Pupil 6: The most popular was the annual Boat Race on the Thames. Russian tourists are very sporty. They are polite and respect our culture.

6. Обсуждение новой ситуации в группах (учебный материал 8-го класса)

Teacher: Discuss in groups what things you will need for your trip. Listen to the ideas and if you have anything to add, do it, please.

Pupil 1: Perhaps, we need passports.

Pupil 2: ...a camera to take photos,

Pupil 3: ...visas, money, a map of Britain.

7. Работа в парах сменного состава

Teacher: If you were in Great Britain, what places would you like to visit, for how many days, in what time of the year? Think of it, write down your ideas and find a partner, who would like to do the same.

Ученики записывают в тетради.

Teacher: So, have you found anybody in our group who would like to make the same trip?

Pupil 1: If I had a chance I would visit Britain in summer for a month, and I would travel to Scotland and the Lake District, because I love fishing. Would you like to join me?

Затем ученики задают вопросы своим собеседникам, пока не находят “попутчиков”.

Pupil 1: Misha and I would like to visit Scotland and the Lake District in summer, if we had a chance. We both like fishing.

8. Заключительный этап

Teacher: Fine. I hope our dreams will come true. As to your homework, imagine, you are on your trip. How would you describe it in your letter to your English teacher? I wold love to read them.

Our time is up, thank you for your fruitful work. You did your best today. Good bye, see you.
