Dear Yes–Club!
Dear Yes–Club!
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas! We wish you much happiness, many surprises, and hope
that everything will be all right!
Here are two letters to Santa. We want readers to express their opinions on the problem:
to believe or not to believe in Santa.
With love,

Dear Santa,
Hi! How are things with you? I’m sorry. I haven’ written for so long. I was very busy
because I have studied at school for all this year.
Now I am writing this letter to you, though I don’t believe that you exist… A lot of
children think that you are a person with a white beard, a red hat, a red nose and a sack
full of gifts for all. They think that you give presents, asking nothing in return. You
should smile to a child and kiss him tenderly. But to tell the truth, I don’t think that
you are real. I understand that you are a fictional character. More that that, you are a
deception, a ruse of adults!
Adults are afraid of their own morality, and they want their children to believe in a kind
man who takes care of them and brings gifts asking nothing in return, or teaches how to be
a good boy (girl) and tells a fairy tale or sings a lullaby. Adults think that somebody
else, but not themselves should tell their children what is good and what is evil. But
they themselves don’t have enough time to do it. So, Santa is only a puppet in the hands
of adults. He just prevents children from understanding the world as it is.
Long live REALISTS – who know what they want!
In our modern world there isn’t any place for magic. Adults shouldn’t be dreamers and
believe in miracles. My opinion is that adults should be realists.
Well, that’s all for now. Hope you’ll write back soon…Ha-ha, if you only exist.

Dear Santa,
How are things with you? I’m sorry I haven’t written for so long time. But I have no
time because I must study, study and study. School takes a lot of free time. You see I am
a good girl, and that is why I should study well.
Dear Santa, I believe that you exist. I believe in miracles. I believe that everything is
possible. So, I believe in many things; for example, if you come to me on Christmas Eve,
I’ll be very, very happy! If I were you I would come to my house and give me presents.
You see, winter is coming. Children decorate New Year trees with bright balls and toys.
All people buy presents for their relatives and friends. Everywhere you can feel the New
Year spirit! Ah, that magical spirit of miracles... Snowflakes are falling down to the
ground. They are so different. Sometimes at night I look through my window and imagine you
are flying with your reindeer. Every night I leave a glass of milk and a plate with
biscuits for you and your deer. New Year’s Eve is the time of miracles and magic. I
think young people should believe in miracles. How can we live without believing?
Many of my friends don’t believe that you exist, but I think that our world will be
boring and grey without you. I think, in every person there should be a little part of a
child. On New Year’s Eve all people are happy. There are so many smiles and I imagine
that I’m in the snowy fairy tale, where snowflakes are dancing, toys become real, there
are no black colours, only happy and magical atmosphere. Our routine life is so grey and I
want you to bring some bright colours on New Year’s Eve. I would really like to see you
and I’m sorry), but get me a small present. Please, come to me.
With love,
