WARM-UP ACTIVITY:
1. Think of a few warm countries in winter and a few cold ones.
E.g.: I think in Kenya it is hot in winter while in Finland it is cold.

Exercise 1
Here is a list of activities you can do either in a cold country in winter or in a hot one. Write them in 2 columns. Sometimes both variants are possible.

1. Read and translate the text.
Last winter Paola and her boyfriend Martin went for a holiday to Russia. It was cold. The snow was everywhere: on the fences, in the trees, in the bushes.
Paola went to the sports centre “Nike” and bought a pair of skis. So she went skiing in the forest. Also she and Martin went to the skating rink in Sokolniki Park.
2. Ask 5 questions to the text in writing.

Discuss where you would go for winter vacation and what you would do there.
