Цели:
1. Познакомить учащихся с последними видами спорта, которые представляют опасность для жизни.
2. Развивать навыки устной речи (по заданной теме), умение вести непринужденную беседу, высказывать своё мнение.
3. Развивать навыки восприятия речи на слух и умение выбора нужной информации из прослушанного текста.
4. Воспитывать осознанное отношение к соблюдению правил безопасности.

Ход урока
I. Введение в урок
1. Музыкальная минутка.
Звучит песня: “Who wants to be a millionaire”. (Учащиеся готовятся к уроку.)
2. Объявление темы и задач урока.
Тема урока записана на доске: Extreme sports: thrills and spills.
3. Обсуждение пословицы.
Teacher: Let’s start our lesson. Listen to the Indian proverb and try to explain it. (Читает пословицу.)
The cobra will bite you whether you call it cobra or Mr. Cobra.
Учащиеся высказывают свое мнение.
Teacher: It’s no difference in how you call it. The name of the danger is DANGER.
There are a lot of dangerous situations in our life but today we are going to talk about extreme dangerous sports and the topic of our lesson is: Extreme sports: thrills and spills.
4. Беседа о видах спорта по картинкам в учебнике, с.60. (Работа в группах.)
Teacher: Please, brainstorm sports you know in English.
Учащиеся называют виды спорта.
Teacher: Now open your books, go to page 60. Talking together.
Task 1. In groups of four match the words with six pictures below. Some words may match more than one picture. (Работа в группах.)
Учитель рисует на доске знаки одобрения/неодобрения: 3 faces – approve, disapprove, don’t disapprove.
Teacher: Task 2. Now decide which of the activities above (ex. 1, p. 60) you think are:
a) dangerous to humans;
b) unkind to animals;
c) interesting to watch;
d) exciting to do.
Task 3. Say how you feel about such activities.
Use the words in the Phrase Box to help you. (p. 60)
Give the sentences according to the faces (знаки одобрения/неодобрения).

Teacher: So some kinds of sport we approve, some disapprove, some we like, others dislike. But we‘ve always discussed that sport is very useful and helps us keep fit.
Let’s think again. There are some of the latest sports people have invented to scare themselves to death.
What dangerous sports can you name? (Учащиеся называют.)
Which sports does our text mention? (Работа с учебником, проверка домашнего задания.)

B.A.S.E. jumping (Buildings, Anthennae, Span, Earth Jumping)
Teacher: So your homework was to complete the questions and to be ready to discuss the text “Thrills and Spills”, p.57.
Task: Ask your classmates questions

Teacher: Listen and be ready to answer (work in the chain).
And now after answering the questions, what have you learnt about these extreme sports.

What is the degree of danger?
Look at the broken legs under each description and put the sports from the least dangerous to the most dangerous (краткая беседа).
• Why do people risk these sports?

• Would you like to try? Why? Why not?

Teacher: In spite of the dangers, we have a lot of sportsmen who risk their lives or health almost every day. Why do they do that?
1. Pre-listening task.
Open your books p.61. Look through the task.
a) Before listening look at the blackboard and try to guess the meaning of these words: punch, gear, rev, steer.
b) Read the listening task and think about the different topics and words you might here.
2. Listen to the text and do your tasks:
You will hear 5 people talking about sports personalities who they believe were the greatest in their field.
Listen and match the speakers 1–5 with the sportsmen A–F.
Use the letters only once. There is one extra letter which you do not need to use.
