Дистанционная Олимпиада по английскому языку как средство повышения мотивации

С повсеместным внедрением информационных технологий, компьютерные средства в настоящее время становятся эффективным способом обучения, самореализации и повышения образовательного уровня школьников. При использовании компьютерных технологий, дистанционные олимпиады позволяют ученикам проверить свои знания, самоутвердиться, подготовиться к экзаменам, раскрыть свой творческий потенциал и повысить мотивацию изучения иностранного языка.

Дистанционная олимпиада проводится ежегодно Международной образовательной корпорацией “Экономика знаний” совместно с Краевой Государственной общеобразовательной школой-интернатом среднего (полного) общего образования с углубленным изучением отдельных предметов, Педагогическим центром по работе с одарёнными детьми и талантливой молодёжью “Школа космонавтики”, а также районными межшкольными методическими центрами. Работая в школе учителем английского языка, с 2005 года разрабатываю дистанционные задания для учащихся 9 классов и с 2007 начала выпускать задания для 6-го класса.

Целью проведения дистанционной олимпиады является привлечение внимания школьников к углубленному изучению школьных предметов, развитие их творческих способностей, использование в учебной сфере современных информационных технологий, а также выявление школьников, интересующихся английским языком и желающих продолжить обучение в старших классах в Школе космонавтики.

Участвуя в дистанционных творческих олимпиадах, школьники становятся заинтересованными в развитии собственного образования, поскольку, не имея готового ответа на поставленную задачу, они разрабатывают свою собственную творческую продукцию, актуальную для жизни в современном информационном обществе. Олимпиада проводится в три тура, два из которых проводятся заочно. Задания не только содержат элементы творчества, но и варьируются по сложности. Они позволяют стимулировать активность и самостоятельность учащихся. По результатам второго тура ученики, прошедшие конкурс, приглашаются на третий очный тур.

Олимпиады подобного рода дают практически любому школьнику, в каком бы городе или поселке он не находился, возможность проследить развитие своих творческих способностей и уровня владения английским языком, а также получить объективную оценку знаний и сравнить работы учащихся разных регионов с собственными. Учащихся привлекает такая форма креативной деятельности, которая редко встречается на школьных уроках и не всегда оценивается учителем. Для многих педагогов и родителей их дети открываются с новой стороны.

За 3 года в олимпиаде по английскому языку приняли участие 320 девятиклассников края и 80 шестиклассников (за последний год) из разных населенных пунктов. Хотелось бы отметить, что ребята из сельской местности не уступают по уровню владения английским языком школьникам из Норильска, Железногорска и т. д. Среди наших учащихся немало призеров и лауреатов. По окончанию 3 тура ребята награждаются почетными грамотами, дипломами, призами, а также получают возможность поступить на очное обучение в Школу космонавтики без вступительных экзаменов (проходя при этом только собеседование). Руководителям школ и учителям рассылаются благодарственные письма.

Дистанционные олимпиады выявляют скрытые возможности и таланты учащихся и позволяют современному школьнику ощущать себя развивающимся гражданином мирового информационного пространства. Продукция участников олимпиад разнообразна: идея, текст, рисунок, способ, опыт, реклама и т.п. Олимпиадное задание может быть межпредметным, как например: английский язык и география, английский язык и страноведение. He told me that it was my fault that we’d gone to Barbados and that it had cost a fortune and had been the worst holiday he had ever had.
I said that there was nothing wrong with Barbados, it was very beautiful, but the travel firm was to blame. Their brochure had promised all kinds of things about the hotel and it had all been lies. I told him that he had no right to blame me and I started crying.
Brian said he was sorry and that he knew that it wasn’t my fault really. He said that he would go to the travel agent first thing in the morning and that he would tell them about everything that had gone wrong. I said that I would go, too, because I was going to ask for our money back or another holiday.
