Lucky Bear

One morning the postman brought Lindy a letter. Her mother read it out to her, “Please come to a party from three-thirty until six o’clock and bring your teddy bear too…”
“I think I’ll take my new teddy bear,” smiled Lindy.
“He’s so new, he still doesn’t have a name,” said Mum. “Don’t lose him, he’s so small!”
But Lindy was so glad to go to the birthday party and so busy getting ready, she forgot about her new teddy’s name.
That afternoon, at three Lindy put the tiny teddy into her coat pocket and went out with her Mum to the party.
All the children remembered to bring a bear and everyone had a great time. They played Pass the Parcel, Blind Man’s Bluff and lots of other party games. Everybody enjoyed the party food – lots of delicious snacks. And they had the biggest birthday cake. Everybody had lots of fun… and I’m sure the bears enjoyed it too!
At six o’clock it was time to go home. The boys and girls gathered up their bears and each got a lucky bag full of sweets. But poor Lindy couldn’t find her little teddy bear anywhere! Her mum and the other parents looked for it everywhere, behind the curtains, in the cushions, under chairs, in the cupboard and even in the rubbish bag!
“I’m afraid we’ll have to go home without your little teddy bear,” said Mum. “We’ll have another look tomorrow.”
So Lindy said, “Goodbye and thank you,” but she was very sad indeed.
“Don’t forget your lucky bag!” called the lady who held the party.
That night Lindy went to bed very unhappy. “Poor little teddy,” she sniffed, very close to tears. “Where is he at this very moment?”
“I think I know!” answered her mother; she opened the lucky bag from the party. “Take a look inside!”
Lindy looked inside the bag, and there was the bear – it was her tiny teddy bear. “I think I’ll call him LUCKY!” grinned Lindy, and they both fell fast asleep!
