Scene 1
Учитель: В одном волшебном городе жили Фея и Разбойник. Фея обучала волшебству своих учениц-феечек, а Разбойник, у него была кличка Босс, вместе со своими товарищами своими злодеяниями приводили в ужас всех жителей города. И Фея, и Разбойник родились в один и тот же день. Какое сегодня число? …Так вот, сегодня у них день рождения.
На авансцене пекарь и его помощник(и).
Baker: Will you give me some eggs, please?
Assistant(s): How many do you want?
Baker: I think a dozen is enough.
Assistant(s): A dozen? What’re we baking?
Baker: A birthday cake. Don’t you know? It’s Fairy’s birthday today.
We’re going to bake the biggest and most beautiful birthday cake.
Assistant(s): Oh, yes. And it will be the most delicious birthday cake.
Открывается занавес. Комната с большим окном. Стол, покрыт скатертью до самого пола. Всюду развешаны разноцветные шляпы. Феи-ученицы играют в жмурки. Входит Фея-учительница.
Fairy: Let’s begin our lesson. Today we are going to speak about Magic hats. Look! We have a lot of hats here.
F1: Dear Fairy. Are they all magic?
Fairy: They are and they are not. It depends.
F2: What about the Red Hat?
F3: And Green?
Fairy: Now give me the book of Magic.
F2: Here you are.
Fairy: Thanks. Listen to me. Put on…
Входит опоздавшая феечка.
F4: I’m sorry I am late.
Fairy: Come in. Put on the Red Hat, close your eyes. Count up to three and you’ll grow tall. Come here, Rosalinda. Let’s help her.
Отдаёт шляпу первой феечке. Все колдуют.
All: Put on the Red Hat. One. Two. Three.
F1: I’m growing. I am tall. It’s awful!
Fairy: Don’t be afraid, dear. Take the hat off. Help her, girls.
F2: Are you OK?
F1: It was horrible!
F3: That’s funny. May I put on the Green Hat?
F1: No fun at all.
F3: May I put on the Green Hat? I love the colour. It’s pretty, absolutely pretty. Don’t you think so?
Fairy: You speak too much. Remember: if you put on the Green Hat, nobody can hear you.
F3: I’m sorry.
Fairy: Let’s go on. Put on the Blue Hat. Turn around 3 times and you are invisible. Miranda, try this hat on.
All: One. Two. Three.
F4: Where are you?
F2: She is going away.
F3: No, she is opening the door.
F4: It’s a cupboard.
Слышен хруст сухарей.
F2: She is eating.
F4: Is it tasty?
F3: Come here!
F2: Come back!
Fairy: Miranda, stop eating and take the hat off.
Исчезнувшая феечка появляется и раздаёт всем сухари.
F1: Oh, dear!
Fairy: You like it, don’t you?
F1: Sure. It’ll be my favourite hat.
В окна заглядывают разбойники.
R1: What are they doing?
R2: They are having a lesson.
R1: A lesson? Who is the teacher?
R2: Fairy, of course. They study Magic.
Fairy: And now look what I have in this box. There is a very special Hat inside. Now I’m opening the box… Here it is!
All: Lovely! Pretty! Beautiful!
Fairy: Remember! This Hat with flowers is the most powerful Hat. Any wish you make with the Hat on will come true.
Scene 2
На авансцене пекарь и его помощник(и). Они месят тесто и пробуют его.
Assistant(s): Is it all right?
Baker: Add some sugar. And don’t forget about the baking powder.
Занавес открывается. Те же декорации, но без шляп. Разбойники поздравляют Босса:
Robbers 1, 2, 3, 4: For he is a jolly good fellow,

And so say all of us.
R3: Three cheers for boss.
All: Hip-hip-hurrah! Hip-hip-hurrah! Hip-hip-hurrah!
R2: Hey Boss, we have some news.
Boss: What’s the matter? What is it?
R1: It’s Fairy.
Boss: Fairy and Fairy again! I am sick and tired of Fairy! We were born on the same day and the very fact spoils my party every year. I hate her!
R1: She has a lot of hats.
R4: Of course, she has, she is a lady.
R1: They are blue, red, green…
R3: We have hats, too.
R2: But her hats are magic.
R3: Magic?
Boss: I heard something of the kind. My grandfather told me there was a Hat at the Fairy’s. If you put it on and utter any wish it was sure to come true in no time.
R1: Yes, Boss. She has that Hat, too.
Boss: Is it red or blue?
R2: It is the Hat with flowers.
Boss: Well, boys. I have an idea. We’ll find the Hat and it’ll be my happiest birthday celebration. I’ll put on the Hat and say… You’ll see it… You’ll hear it… Come on!
Scene 3
На авансцене пекарь и его помощник(и).
Assistant(s): It smells good! Is the cake ready?
Baker: Wait a little. It will be ready in a minute.
Школа Феи. В комнате только две феечки, Анабел и Люсинда.
Lucinda: Annabel, come here. Let’s take the flowers off the yellow Hat.
Annabel: But why, Lucinda?
Lucinda: Listen, The Fairy said it’s the most powerful hat. Right?
Annabel: Yes.
Lucinda: Let’s check it!
Annabel: What do you mean?
Lucinda: Does it have the same power without flowers?
Annabel: I don’t know.
Lucinda: We’ll see it in a minute. Go to the door quickly!
Annabel: I don’t understand. You don’t want the Fairy to catch us, do you?
Lucinda: She won’t if we do it quickly. Go to the door!
Annabel: All right.
Люсинда снимает цветы со шляпы.
Annabel: Fairy is coming!
Перепуганная феечка надевает цветы на первую попавшуюся шляпу – на зелёную.
Fairy: How are you?
Lucinda, Annabel: Fine, thank you.
Врываются разбойники.
R3: Stand still, everybody! Don’t move!
R4: We’ll blow your Magic School up if you say a word.
Boss: Where are the Hats? I want the Hat with flowers.
R1: Here you are, Boss.
R2: They will remember this day forever! Ha-ha-ha!
Boss: And now listen to what I’m going to say!
Надевает шляпу, открывает рот, шевелит губами, но ничего не слышно.
Robbers 1, 2, 3, 4: It’s a plot! We’ll defend you, Boss!
Входят пекарь с помощниками и преподносят фее пирог:
Baker and his Assistant(s): Dear Fairy, happy birthday.
Fairy: Thank you very much… Help yourself to the cake, please.
Фея угощает всех, в том числе и разбойников. Босс продолжает стоять в шляпе. Он что-то говорит, но его не слышно.
Fairy: Will you take off your hat, because I can’t hear you.
Разбойник снимает шляпу.
Boss: The cake is very tasty. Thank you.
Fairy and Boss: (одновременно) Would you like to come to dinner tonight? … That’s a good idea.
Everybody singing:
The more we’re together, together, together, (2 раза)
The happier we are.
Baker: The more we eat together…
