How Do I Plan to Make My
Living?
This question always worries teenagers. It is very important to plan
how you will make your living. I don’t know exactly but I think that I can become a
journalist. It’s so interesting and exciting. But you must have many skills and
qualities. You should have a good knowledge of literature and the Russian language. You
can widen your scope and learn many interesting things. It’s so attractive to write
about politics, sport, love and other things and events. Journalists help people with
their problems, and give important advice. In our modern world journalism has big
influence on people.

It’s not easy to choose your future profession. I often ask
myself: “What do I want to be when I leave school?” It’s very difficult to choose
the one profession which will make you happy during your life.
Some years ago I wanted to become a teacher. I thought it was a very noble profession. But
I am sure that it’s very difficult to become a good teacher. You should know the subject
you teach perfectly, you must be well-educated and well-informed. But I feel that I am
afraid of it because it’s a great responsibility to educate children. And I suppose that
I am not a teacher by nature.
Not long ago it occurred to me that I want to become a doctor. I want to help people who
have problems with their health. I know that a doctor should be noble in work and life,
kind and attentive to people, responsible, honest and prudent. A doctor, who is selfish,
or dishonest can’t be good at his profession. I will try to do my best to develop good
traits in myself.

I’m studying in school No. 814. This school is special. In this
school all pupils are studying higher mathematics.
In my life I want to be a programmer. I want to build my own computer and operation
system. Also I want to build a car with an eco-system engine.
I think that a car like this will help clean our planet. I will make cars with an
eco-system engine, and I’ll be a rich man.
I think I will be a good worker, and I’ll help our planet to be clean and beautiful.

When you leave school you realize that it’s time to choose your
future profession. It’s not an easy task to make the right choice. Parents usually want
their children to follow in their footsteps. To make the right choice you should consider
your traits of character. If you want to apply for a job you must think of your weaknesses
and strengths, likes and dislikes, skills and capabilities, in order to decide what sort
of work you want to do. There are so many wonderful professions around! As for me, I’m
going to enter the university to acquire and accumulate knowledge. It was difficult to
make up my mind and choose one of hundreds of jobs for which I might be better suited.
But I want to be a doctor. When I was a little girl my grandfather worked at a hospital
and I spent some time at the hospital with him. He is a skilled surgeon and works in a
surgical department. My grandfather tells me a lot of true stories about doctors, their
profession, and their aid to people.
I respect my grandfather. I like his profession and I have a dream to be a doctor, too.
I think that this will be my primary occupation in the future. All jobs are necessary and
useful, but the most important thing for a person is to do their work professionally.

I have often thought about my future life.
First I, like many naive children, thought that I
would be a designer. I like collecting different cars models very much. But when I
celebrated my 12th birthday, I thought of my profession seriously. I want to have an
interesting work, but one that won’t be lacking in money. If you want a good work you
must study in an institute. First, I wanted to study in an economics institute, but my
friend told me that by 2008 economists won’t be in great demand, since many people will
already be working as economists. There won’t be new jobs. But in some years engineers
will be popular.

As I like to learn new and interesting things and to communicate with
people, I have chosen the profession of a journalist.
I dream to go to different places, to gather various materials, to learn new things which
are not yet well-known.
I will meet famous people, take interviews, be interested in their lives.
Then all my articles will be in print in newspapers and journals. All people will be able
to read what interests them.
In the future I would like to establish my own publication and publish my own journals,
where the most recent news will be presented.

When I grow up, I will be a paleontologist. I want to be a
paleontologist because I’m keen on dinosaurs and other ancient animals. If I become a
paleontologist I will travel to a lot to different countries. I also want to be a computer
programmer and to create computer games.

I want to finish school and enter an institute. For this I must try and
work hard at school and get good marks. I want to have a profession of a computer
programmer. I think I will be a good programmer. When I graduate from the institute I will
make my own computers, systems and programs. If I become an expert in this field, I will
make a lot of money and will be able to buy different expensive computers and programs.

I don’t know exactly how I will make my living in the future. But
it’s very rare that an honest man is rich in Russia. Many people don’t usually manage
to work using their education and profession gained at university or institute. But I’m
an honest man and I’ll do my best to make my living honestly. I expect my country to
become a country where people will be able to earn their living easier than nowadays and,
of course, honestly. If it happens, I will be very glad. If it is only my dream, I will
work very much and even do dirty work to live well and be rich.

I think in our time you can live very well with any profession. But
this is true only if you work hard.
I can’t make up my mind about my future profession. First of all I want to be a good
person and then a good worker.
I know many successful people. For example, my mother. She achieved so much in her life
and she did it all herself. Her profession was not easy, she was a ship designer. But the
time when my parents started their career was very hard and they weren’t able to show
their talent in all its power. And I’m afraid I will also live in such bad times.
Generally speaking I want to train in several professions because I think that a person
must know and be able to do a lot of things. My motto is: “If someone knows how, I will
be able to know how, too.”
And I think if a man has everything but he isn’t happy, he has nothing. I always try to
be glad and happy and make people happy, because people must be happy.
