Samples of True Love
Love is known to be one of the most favourite themes for discussion. As
for me, I’m not fond of reading different love stories. But some samples from literature
and from real life impressed me very much. There are many wonderful romantic couples:
Dante and Beatrice, Mayakovsky and Lilia Brick, Tristan and Isolde, Romeo and Juliet,
Turgenev and Viardo... I consider one of the most exciting stories of true love to be the
relationship between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
Being a young lady, Victoria got acquainted with her German cousin
Albert, fell in love immediately, and was very happy when they got married. The Queen
believed her husband to be the most handsome and cleverest man in the world and trusted
him on every occasion. Victoria discussed with the Prince every questions of state; she
signed papers only after having consulted with Albert. The Queen was keen on staying with
her husband together in private: they walked in the mountains together with only two
servants, calling each other by foreign names. The loving couple had romantic suppers near
the fire and spent nights in the open air.
When Victoria finished decorating her new castle in Scotland, she
declared that wonderful house to be the creation of her dear Albert. Everything Victoria
appreciated, she connected with the name of the Prince. Being always in love, the Queen
was cheerful and merry; she was always in an excellent mood and seemed to have a light
inside her. Seven nice children were the result of their marriage.
The untimely death of Albert was a great tragedy for Victoria. She grew
old at once, worked twenty-four hours a day, and cancelled all balls and parties to the
displeasure of her court. She herself seemed to be like an orphan. In honour of Albert,
Victoria built a huge monument of the Prince covered with gold.
But the royal couple is far from me, and my parents are much closer.
They’ve been living together for twenty-one years already and they’re not bored with
surprising each other. For example, when my mum returns home from different countries and
cities, dad bakes a cake in the shape of the letter “I” (my mother’s name is Irine)
to welcome her. Every year my parents celebrate the anniversary of their marriage. They go
to a restaurant and have a romantic supper tкte-а-tкte. My mother’s favourite flower
is peony; in spring Dad looks for these flowers everywhere to please her.
I believe my parents to be a sample of true love. I wish I would meet a
loving man in my life, too.

As the rays of sunset redden the day
And my thoughts are going far away,
Don’t go, please, don’t.
While the placer of stars becomes cheerlessly white
Don’t hurry, don’t.
The sun is given to freedom’s space
And in the sky all love’s on fire
Burn stronger, my desire.
In a fleeting life there is no sound
Of fairy-tale romance and love,
Love that is us around, around us.
