John is very upset. His teacher Mrs. Smith spoke with him in the
morning.
Mrs. Smith had taught John’s elder brother before she began to teach John. So she said,
“Your brother used to try hard. He used to do his homework. He used to arrive at school
on time. He used to win Geography contests. He didn’t use to tease his classmates. He
didn’t use to play football in the street. He didn’t use to be so untidy. He used to
do wonderful projects. He used to get “As and Bs”. And you? You should try harder.”

– Yes, of course. My Granny often tells me how my Granddad came to America to make a
fortune.

– He was a Norwegian.

– I was born on the 5th of January in 1989.

– When I was 6.
– What did you use to do when you were little?
– I used to ask Mum to read me fairy tales.

– In Great Britain.

– In Llandaff. It’s a city in Wales.
– Who is your hero?
– My father. He is kind and generous. He spends much time with me. We play football
together. He used to play football for Manchester City, when he was a student.
– Who is your hero or heroine?
– My mother. She is a businesswoman. She is very good at computers. She teaches me how
to be good at computers too. She is hard-working. She is very special.
– What foreign country do you want to visit?
– Australia. I think it’s an interesting place to visit.
– Describe this country in three or four words.
– An extraordinary collection of birds and animals.
– What is your favourite month of the year?
– December. It’s fun to see the New Year in.
– Do you sometimes feel lonely?
– No, I don’t. My parents spend their free time with me. We do different things
together. They take me to concerts. They used to read me fairy tales when I was a child.
– Do you spend much time with your parents?
– With my Mum. Dad is always busy. He is a journalist. Sometimes he works on Saturdays
and Sundays. But when he is free he tells me a lot of interesting things. He knows a lot.
