I. Listen to the passage and answer the questions to it. George is a character from the story.

Five on a Treasure

“I’m George,” said the girl. I shall only answer if you call me George. I hate being a girl: I don’t like doing the things that girls do. I like doing the things that boys do. I can climb better than any boy, and swim faster too. I can sail a boat as well as any fisherboy. You must call me George. Then I’ll speak to you. But I shan’t if you don’t.

My Neighbour

My neighbour is a singer. He is not very famous. He plays guitar and sings his own songs. His songs are fabulous. But his appearance is horrible. His hair is green. He wears torn jeans. I think he wants to attract people’s attention. He wants to make journalists write about him. He is not eccentric. He tries to look eccentric. He affords it to become famous.

– What are your pet hates?
– I hate it when somebody takes my things without asking. What I can’t stand is watching soap operas and listening to loud music.
– Neither can I. I like soft music.

– What do you think about eccentric people?
– I don’t care when a person has unusual habits. It’s much more important to be kind and helpful.
– I agree with you.

– My brother enjoys watching football matches.
– Does he? My brother doesn’t.

– Look! Mary is wearing lots of rings and bracelets.
– It makes me laugh when somebody looks like a Christmas tree.
– She’s a little eccentric. But that’s her business.

– Famous people are often a little eccentric.
They like wearing bright clothes.
– I think they want to attract attention.
– So do I.

– Why is his behaviour so eccentric?
– I think he wants to make us talk about him.
– Do you? I don’t think so. I think he is a strange person.

– I don’t mind following safety tips.
– Neither do I.
